Working with Marianne to find our home in Berkeley was one of the best decisions we made in the entire process. From the start, she took the time to truly understand what we were looking for, not just the obvious checkboxes, but the things that actually mattered to us in a home and a neighborhood. Once she got it, she did the filtering for us and only brought us places we'd genuinely be interested in. That alone saved us an enormous amount of time, and she was still always happy to go see as many properties as we wanted. Buying in Berkeley is its own thing. The market doesn't work like other places, and so much of it comes down to local knowledge you can't find online. Marianne has that in spades: a deep feel for neighborhoods and streets, plus a trust network and relationships with other agents that genuinely helped us land our house. What we appreciated most was that she never pushed. She wasn't trying to sell us a house just to close a sale; she used a critical, honest lens to tell us whether a place (and its layout) would actually work for us. And when it came to bidding, she gave us a calm, transparent read on what to offer, never pressuring us to over- or under-bid. That helped us price our offers correctly. She's simply a wonderful person to work with. We've since recommended her to friends who've worked with her too, and she's helped them find and close on their homes as well. We can't recommend her enough.

Marianne is a fantastic agent! She made it possible for us to buy our lovely Upper Rockridge home. We had looked largely on our own for over a year, and finally found a property that we wanted to bid on. We put in a bid that we knew would probably not be the top one, hoping to get a better deal should the top bidder not follow through. And so it went. Marianne is incredible and I cannot recommend her enough. She is professional, knowledgeable, responsive, hard-working, patient, and generous. My husband and I recently bought our dream home in Oakland and we would not have been able to do it without her. This was also our first time buying a house and Marianne walked us through every step. She was never pushy and It always felt like she had our comfort in mind. About our experience with Marianne: My husband and I looked for homes in San Francisco a couple of years ago and got completely overwhelmed. We put our search on hold for a while and started up the process again a few months ago - knowing this time that we were going to have to be better prepared before making an offer. We met Marianne at an open house and got along with her really well. She asked all the right questions about what we were looking for and seemed to know the East Bay incredibly well. We wound up asking her if she could help us pursue a different house - one she hadn't known anything about - and she said she would do some research and let us know. By the time we met with her again (two days later), she had already visited the house, contacted the seller's agent, and gotten the disclosures for us. We had a ton of questions for her and she answered all of them. She also brought up other things we hadn't thought of before, which was incredibly helpful. She also put us in touch with a couple different lenders - one of whom she knew had recently purchased his own home so was very good at explaining the process to first time home buyers. Once we'd decided to put in an offer, she did a ton of research into helping us figure out what to bid and helped us reach a number we'd be comfortable bidding. Prior to placing a bid, she also arranged with the seller to let us bring our own inspector through to look at the property - not for a full home inspection but to get an idea of what may need to be repaired/replaced right away (in the Bay Area, it's very common to waive contingencies). After we got the home, Marianne made sure everything was just right and has continued to check-in every now and then to see how things are. She even tracked down a piece of furniture the staging company had had in the home after I'd told her I liked it! She really goes the extra mile (and beyond). Thanks Marianne!

Marianne was pleasant to work with, and helped us land our first house in this competitive Bay Area market. She was easy to get in touch with whenever I had questions, and was quick to respond. I appreciate her flexibility in dealing with text/email/phone or whichever method of communication made the most sense at the time. She was very knowledgable about the area and detail-oriented. While looking to buy a house, you usually don't have many friends, since everyone is trying to make a commission. In general though, I felt Marianne seemed to keep my family's wellbeing in mind when inspecting properties and making bids, and I appreciate that.
