Liz is a phenomenal agent! We highly recommend her!
Although we contacted her at the last minute to fit within the summer seller's window, she immediately advised us on strategy, timing, repairs and staging...all the things we would not have known how to manage, and helped us to sell our condo at the price we wanted within a tight time frame. With her experience, down to earth professional style and calm, positive attitude, she helped us navigate easily through what could have been a highly stressful process. Liz is an amazing agent. She could both provide calming perspective to first time buyers, and had a quiet, intense competitiveness during the bidding process that made us feel like we had a strong advocate in our corner. I would highly recommend her!

Liz Behrens is, quite simply, a MacArthur genius of realtors. In addition to her nuanced understanding of the market, Liz has an unusual ability to finely attune to her clients' emotional needs. She performs the delicate dance between listening deeply to the wants and needs of her clients, and gently guiding with assured leadership.
With grace, calm, and a great sense of humor, Liz was with us every step of the way from selling our house, to the search afterwords for a new home - in a market with considerable pressure. We didn't realize that selling a house could be so easy - Liz made all of the staging decisions while she coordinated all of the work, and counseled us as to how to price the house effectively and much more. In the end, the house garnered multiple offers with a sale price almost $100,000 over asking, which is incredible considering the house came with the $25,000 pest report!
Finally, Liz helped us find our dream home. She expertly navigated the offer process, and we were lucky enough to buy a house that had 13 other offers. Our bid, incidentally, was not the highest. The offer was strong, because Liz had a innate understanding of what was important to the seller and the seller's realtor and she crafted a rock solid offer. Our escrow process had many twists and turns, none of which were related to Liz, and she was particularly impressive under the pressure and ushered the escrow through on our originally estimated closing date.
Throughout the process, everyone we worked with, from the mortgage broker, other realtors and even the notary who brought our loan documents to sign, raved about Liz. The notary literally said, "Oh, everyone loves Liz!" The fact that Liz has an excellent reputation with key players in the Bay Area real estate business is, no doubt, a significant factor in her success.
We cannot recommend Liz highly enough. Our greatest regret, is that we do not get to work with her daily anymore!

5+ stars for Liz and the integrity she has for her clients. We just closed escrow on a home in Montclair and as a mortgage broker, I cannot say enough about how calm, cool and collected she was throughout the entire process. She provided advocacy and expertise for our mutual clients and made everyone feel at ease. We need more Realtors like Liz out there

Liz was a phenomenal real estate agent and advisor for our first house purchase. She was calm when we were stressed, knowledgeable when we had questions and always available.
We weren't the easiest clients- we both had long lists of preferences, and I wanted to learn everything I could about home construction, financing, the bidding process, financing, etc. For every one answer I got, I came up with three more questions or far-fetched hypotheticals. Liz shared her wealth of knowledge and helped us parse and evaluate the claims we got from the sellers' agent, mortgage brokers and inspectors.
I felt that Liz was up front and honest with us about costs and risks throughout the process. When she didn't know something, she'd research it or find an expert who could advise us. She connected us with a number of experts for inspections and mortgage brokering. We shopped around and got some independent bids; Liz's suggestions were consistently the best of the people we talked with.
Ultimately, we found a wonderful house in Rockridge just a few months into our search and moved in about 3 weeks later. At a time (summer 2013) when many neighboring properties were going for 100-150k over asking price, we got ours for exactly asking price. I'd strongly recommend Liz to anyone buying in the Oakland area.

My boyfriend and I were lucky to have Liz help us buy our first home last year in Rockridge. We were nervous about how long it would take us to find a house and how much money it would take, after seeing friends spend many months looking, only to lose out on many bids when offering far above asking. With Liz's help and expertise, we successfully purchased the first home that we placed an offer on, in a neighborhood that I never thought I'd be able to buy a house.
Liz was wonderful to work with--she's very friendly, knowledgeable, and very diligent. Liz guided us through the home buying process, educating and counseling us, respecting our budget and limits, and never being pushy; she made us feel like we were in control of the process, which, coupled with the guidance that she provided, made us very comfortable and confident in our decision. She made sure that we knew everything about the house before finally committing, and (six months after moving in) we've been happy that we haven't had any big unexpected surprises since we've been in here.
My boyfriend and I both have demanding jobs, and Liz made everything easy for us. She was very available for us at the times that we were free (often late in the evening after work), and she quickly responded to emails, texts, and phone messages. She set up inspections, and got bids on various projects for us while we were at work. She made us feel like we were always her top priority. And she was able to handle everything that came up without stressing us out.
We really appreciated all of Liz's help throughout the house-buying process, and afterwards, with referrals for contractors, etc. We highly recommend Liz to anyone who is looking for an agent.

I just bought a house in Oakland through Liz Behrens at Red Oak Realty. Liz was absolutely phenomenal to work with to help me navigate the intricacies and difficulties of the home purchasing process. She was incredibly responsive and impeccable, keeping me on top of every step from going into contract, recommending contractors to determine cost calculations and figuring out when and how to make decisions to insure the successful purchase.
She was on a holiday vacation in Tahoe talking with me via cell when the deal looked like it could head south not for better weather, but headed toward a total fiasco. She was on top of the problem before I even knew about it and without her level of commitment and oversight , I never would've been able to seal this deal--it was that close. My purchase was a short sale; you have to be really wise and know what you're doing as a realtor and she displayed those chops. She was constantly working to make sure everything ran smoothly and was extremely professional knowing when to alert me about potential problems and when to leave me alone. She gave me thorough, knowledgeable advice and truly cared about me and acted in my interest all the time. I trusted her completely and that faith really paid off because now I have this wonderful, wonderful house. Hats off to Liz; she's the best!
