We had a great experience working with Regina Jacobs at The Grubb Company to sell our home in the Oakmore neighborhood in Oakland. We started speaking with her about a year before listing, and her advice on what to do to prepare and when to go to market was incredibly helpful.
When it came time to sell, we were actually out of the country, but Regina handled everything, including cleaning, prepping, and staging. The listing generated strong interest, we received 10 offers, and ultimately sold for a great price.

Our first interaction with Regina was, ironically, when she was the selling agent for the home we bought in the Oakland hills area in 2021. As the realtor on the "opposite side", I found her very pleasant to work with and very proactive in communication when we had questions.
Flash forward 4 years later when my wife and I were ready to relocate closer to work, Regina was our first call. In what stood out as a really impressive first impression, when we first asked Regina about being our realtor she recommended we waited. Her evaluation of the timing for the market suggested to wait a few months, capitalize on time to make home improvements she recommended, and wait for a time in the near future when pricing would better reflect what my wife and I were hoping to get for our home. This honestly shocked me, I never in 1,000 years would have expected a realtor to tell us to wait, postpone their own respective commission, but we followed her guidance and really benefitted from it.
We spent the next 3 ish months or so incorporating the strategic and well thought out improvements to the home Regina suggested, and prepared the home to be sold. Regina was dynamite through the entire process. As this was our first time selling a home in CA, my wife and I had a ton of questions, which Regina was very patient with and helped explain a lot of the nuances coming with selling a home in the bay area. Regina also offered us an array of options, which to us was exceedingly helpful because it gave us the option to lead in many ways, which helped make us feel like we were in control of the process. As you can imagine, selling a home is a very emotional thing to do, so any time you can feel like you're in control was a great feeling. There was never any pressure from Regina to do something we didn't think made sense or wasn't within the confines of our budget, which again was really appreciated. All recommendations were reflective of her expert opinion, but ultimately she let us drive.
We worked with Regina's recommendations for contactors for small work we wanted done to prep the home, and they were quick-- well priced, and most importantly respected our home. We chose to go wit her recommendation for staging-- VESTA- and they were incredible. Beautiful furniture, and really did a great job of making our home feel comfortable and desirable.
Once the house hit the open market, Regina was reaching out to us regularly to keep us in the loop as to what was going on, what level of interest there was in the home, and what next steps would be throughout the process. Ultimately, she sold our home within 10 ish days (2 open house weekends), and it was for a larger number than my wife and I had anticipated when we first contemplated selling our home. Literally, a seller's dream!
Overall, I'd recommend Regina 10/10 times to anyone. Her positive reputation stands for itself, and she truly is a class act.

I wish that I could give 3.5 stars.
In the beginning Regina is wonderfully communicative and friendly but when things go differently, her whole demeanor changes. She originally told us that everything would be run by us but then did things without asking and we had to pay for it. If you do not say yes to everything, she gives you a song and dance about past experiences.
Also read Martha B's review, as I felt that her experience was incredibly similar to ours.
Here are some areas where she needs some growth:
1. Organizational skills
- She sends new emails and texts with questions and proposals. She deals with things on the fly, not always remembering to come back to them as well.
- Prices are put out at the beginning but not updated. Tacking charges on at the end is unprofessional.
- There was a lack of communication about dates and when things were going to be done.
- The stager was excellent but Regina neglected to check what and how the stager was going to stage. The stager had missed rooms. She said that the stager would not the downstairs extra room as a bedroom. Yet that is exactly what the stager did.
2. Overcharges
- When asked what the landscaper would do, she said that he would make it beautiful. No list to keep within budget. We were charged $1200 additionally.
- Contractor made mistakes which she tried to pass off to us. She ultimately charged the contractor, thankfully, but the stress it involved was frustrating.
- We received a final invoice from the painter that was $1200 above the original invoice. There was no list on what was to be done, just interior and exterior. There was an extra charge that stated stain on new fence - $1500. We discussed this briefly, but never approved the work. It just seemed to happen, which we thought was included.
- There were parts of the original fence that had holes, we asked for it to be fixed. They wanted to charge us $200. We did it ourselves for $15 and 20 minutes of time in the end.
- She doesn't really know about the ins and outs of fixing things and contract work. She completely trusts her contractors and allows them to charge whatever they want, even if they make mistakes. If you know anything about contract work, this part will definitely annoy you.
3. Lack of Approval process
- Areas were not painted properly and she would argue with us and tell us that it was "the house's fault". It just needed more coats of paint. In the end, the wall is now white just like the other side. The energy and waste of time that these small arguments is stressful and frustrating.
4. Will not accept any critiques
- During walkthroughs, we found things to fix, she would get upset and say that all we find are mistakes and have nothing nice to say. Isn't that what a walkthrough is for? To find the mistakes that are not seen. We pay attention to detail, but alas, Regina and her team do not.
It is my understanding that a real estate agent is supposed to be the individual that makes sure that the contractors are staying within their bids and doing what needs to be done within the costs. I am disappointed in Regina's lack of communication and oversight when it comes to how and when money is spent. We both have jobs and a family, which is why we hired Regina to handle all of this. I do not feel that she eased the situation for us, in fact, at times, she created more stress.
As for the actual selling, when it comes to offers and price, this is where Regina SHINES.
She is very good at getting the best offers and making sure that we received the highest offers. She is strategic in her price ranging and understands the market of Glenview well. We got a lot for our house but the process was a painful and did not need to be. I write this so others know what they are getting into. If you don't care how much you spend and trust that she will get you the most that she can, she will. Just keep saying yes and the entire process will be smooth and painless.

How do you successfully sell your home in these challenging times of rising rates, rising inflation, and economic uncertainty? Hire Regina Jacobs!
After two amazing years in our Oakland Hills home, my wife got a job offer in Southern California, and we were given six months to relocate down there. We needed to find a proven real estate agent that could help us navigate the challenging and changing landscape in the housing market. Regina spent several months with us, educating us on the buyer demographic, helping us understand which home improvements would be the most appealing (she has amazing design aesthetic), and most importantly, executing as the house went on the market. She negotiated to get us the best price with the perfect buyers who love their new home. Her reputation in East Bay is unrivaled and now we know why.
As other clients have previously mentioned, Regina has an excellent network of stagers, cleaners, contractors, landscapers, and photographers. This is probably why all of Regina's homes have a signature look that attracts so much attention from buyers.
On a personal level, we meshed with Regina from day one and quickly built mutual trust that is hard to find! She is charismatic, caring, and patient (underrated attributes in this profession) and always had our best interests in mind. We are so grateful for her help, service, and friendship!
From the bottom of our heart - thank you, Regina. Come visit us in SoCal!

Choosing Regina Jacobs as our real estate agent was an excellent decision. Our home in the Oakland hills is not easy to get to. Once there, it is a beautiful, detailed craftsman wonderland we spent 26 years strengthening and renovating. Regina stood out from other knowledgeable agents with a good track record because she spent quality time listening and understanding as we described the property, history, craftsmanship, upgrades, and the difficulties of departing. For two hours, she was contactful, appreciative, and absorbed the details that made our home special. She then explained the market, gave us her projections, and answer our questions. When we said goodbye, we knew we found our agent.
Regina has an established team of experts including a stager, cleaners, electrician, painter, handy person, hauler, photographer, and gardener. She masterfully coordinated and directed these professionals who turned our home into a stunning presentation that we have no doubt, memorized buyers and made them forget the 60-step journey to the front door.
We trusted Regina from start to finish and let her take charge of all aspects of selling our Glenview home. She recommended only necessary upgrades to pull in as many perspective buyers as possible. She made the presentation and selling process look easy.
While we relocated across the country, Regina was working hard preparing for the open house, receiving offers, negotiating with buyer's agents, and closing the deal. She is competent and reliable. We never stressed out which was so nice. We were able to move on thanks to Regina's self-motivation, management skills and expertise. She clearly loves her job.
We are so very pleased with the offers which were right in line with Regina's estimates. We are more than thrilled with Regina and truly like her. She is bright, easy going, smart, direct and nobody's pushover. She negotiated to get us the best price with the perfect buyers who love their new home.
We highly recommend Regina Jacobs and her team. They are all that was needed to sell our home for a great price while we confidently moved on to our new adventure.
Thank you so much Regina!

How can I expand upon Erica C's review and the over 30 5-star reviews for Regina that accurately reflect my own personal experiences? Well, hold my beer! Look NO further for your real estate agent. Working with Regina was by far the BEST financial decision I've ever made. Past performance is no guarantee of future results but the sale of my home generated almost 50% above ask and significantly exceeded my wildest expectations (and what I was led to expect by other RE agents).
When seeking a real estate agent neighbors told me "Regina is great, she's so nice!" This was confirmed at our first meeting. She is kind and considerate. She is brilliant, she has a great sense of humor and she is NO BS! If you have bad Feng Shui she will tell you! Trust me on that one! And trust her!!
I trusted her so much that I literally retired, packed, moved, dropped off the house-keys to her and then drove across the country to Mass. She then coordinated the efforts of her team: an architect, builder, painters, floor guys, landscape magicians, stagers, photographers etc. She transformed my beloved "sports bar for beagles" into a magical "home by Regina". The transformation was astonishing and in a time-frame that was miraculous. Regina took care of EVERYTHING--from the preparation of the house for sale through the close of escrow. I respect her professionalism and absolutely love her. I imagine the buyer does as well!
