Albany is located on the Eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, with views spanning across the Bay to the Golden Gate Bridge. Residents enjoy its almost flat walkable terrain—with the exception of Albany Hill, which rises to 338 feet above sea level.
Albany offers a great, pedestrian-friendly shopping street, Solano Avenue, with an eclectic mix of ethnic restaurants, pubs, clothing and gift stores and services. It is also home to Golden Gate Fields, the only horse-racing track in the area.
This walkable community is proud of Solano Avenue, a great shopping street where one will likely meet neighbors en route to coffee or a movie. A favorite of dog owners (and anyone seeking a fabulous view) is a visit to The Albany Bulb, a wild shoreline park with imaginative “art exhibits” created by locals. If you prefer a spot to meet with friends for regular workouts, the warm indoor and outdoor pools of the Albany Aquatic Center entice those drawn to swimming and water fitness exercise.
A short drive to Berkeley, San Francisco, and Marin. Great commuter town.
