A Bay Area resident for more than 25 years, Jane Anderson grew up in Eastern Canada, the eldest of three children. Following her graduation from the University of Western Ontario, and taking a step that would bring her from Montreal to San Francisco, Jane entered the advertising business and built a ten-year career focused on media and client management, working for a number of prominent firms in the industry. With her husband, Keith, she moved from San Francisco to the Claremont District of Berkeley in 1987, and eventually left the advertising world to have children and raise a family. Jane has lived in Piedmont since 1997.
A strongly rooted resident of the East Bay and an active member of the local community, Jane knows the people, places and institutions in the market area served by The Grubb Company. She appreciates all that the region has to offer, and is deeply involved in her community’s activities. For more than 10 years she has volunteered, instructed, and been on the boards of Piedmont schools, while supporting Oakland Strokes, and a variety of other local and school-related sports organizations. Good friends, meaningful relationships, and a rich understanding of place have been the product of this community involvement.
When it comes to work in real estate, Jane’s approach parallels her broader philosophy. “A successful agent must understand people and their needs. You have to ask questions, listen carefully, recognize client objectives, balance all this with a healthy dose of market reality, and then work hard to reach the goal.” Creativity, good instinct, detail orientation, and integrity underpin Jane’s approach. Clients trust her as a partner.
Besides reading, exercise, the occasional hand of bridge, a husband and two Springer Spaniels, the focus of Jane’s attention has for years been on her three children, all of whom went through the Piedmont school system. The eldest, Katherine, is a graduate of Bucknell University in Pennsylvania; her son, Robert, attends UC Santa Barbara; and the youngest, Henry, is a student at Piedmont High School.
