Michael Sasso learned the values of hard work, discipline, and training from an early age when he competed in equestrian sports. He was chosen as the champion of the National Horse Show for two consecutive years and was the winner of the Maclay Finals at Madison Square Garden.
This type of early training helped Michael as he developed an exceptionally rich career and fostered his entrepreneurial skills.
Following his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, he managed agricultural and residential properties where his responsibilities included overseeing renovations, landscaping, and development.
This experience served him well when he started a landscaping business and rare plant nursery in San Francisco. “Potrero Gardens” quickly became a destination and community focal point due to Michael’s unique expertise in horticulture and design.
As an Oakland resident, Michael has continued to offer his expertise as a volunteer with the Gardens at Lake Merritt and assisting with the planting of the native garden when “Splash Pad Park” was first being developed. He lives on the shores of Lake Merritt with his partner Rob Tufel, the executive director of Cancer CAREpoint, a non-profit cancer support organization.
Michael also contributes to the community through his dedication to the arts. He lived in Europe where he worked in theater and opera with international director Robert Wilson and utilized his fluency in French and Italian. He served on the board of the Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive (BAM/PFA) and was President of the Board of Small Press Traffic at California College of the Arts.
In his spare time, he created and manufactured a unique candy bar inspired by one of his favorite Italian desserts. “The Sasso Bar” was sold in fine stores throughout the Bay Area and Michael’s business was featured in the Silicon Valley Business Journal.
Michael’s passion for real estate stems from his experience and skills in negotiating contracts as well as his love of architecture and housing. He is expert at helping people understand their needs and figuring out the best course of action.
Michael brings all this experience, skill and breadth of knowledge to help his clients with their real estate needs.
